Skipton Camerata: Messiah
Sun 6th December 2026 7:00pm
Handel Messiah
Two hundred years ago, Handel’s Messiah became one of the great musical phenomena of British life, and its appeal has never faded. With unforgettable moments such as Ev’ry Valley, For Unto Us a Child Is Born and The Trumpet Shall Sound, it continues to move audiences of all backgrounds.
Part of its enduring power lies in its openness: it can be heard as sacred music, dramatic storytelling, or simply a sequence of extraordinary musical moments. Joined once again by the Clothworkers’ Consort and four international soloists, Skipton Camerata presents its annual performance of this much-loved masterpiece — a shared celebration filled with energy, reflection and joy.
Run time: approx. 2 hour 45 minutes (including an interval)
Please note, that the date has recently changed to Sunday 6th December 2026. All who booked before the change have been informed via email.
Important Information:
The performance will start promptly at 19.00. Latecomers will be refused entry until the interval.
Skipton Camerata
Founded in 2004 by its artistic director, Ben Crick, Skipton Camerata is North Yorkshire’s only professional orchestra. Skipton Camerata’s primary purpose is the delivery of live classical music to a national standard in areas of limited provision across Yorkshire. They want to remove barriers that prevent people from engaging with classical music. They believe everyone should be able to enjoy high-quality live orchestral music as much as they do.
