Make Do & Mend Together

Woven Patches for Well-Loved Clothes

Fri 30th May 2025 10:30am

Join us for a fun and creative family workshop led by Yarndale, where you’ll learn the art of visible mending and make your own colourful patch to repair or customise your well-loved clothes! Inspired by our exhibition Designed for War and the Second World War’s Make Do & Mend campaign, this hands-on session will show you how to repurpose clothing using a simple weaving technique. It’s a great way to give old garments new life—and a unique look!

Come and get creative—mend, make, and learn together!

No experience is needed and all materials will be supplied.

Children must be accompanied by an adult. Suitable for children age 7 and up.

Free for accompanying adult/s, please book a ticket for adult so we can keep track of number of attendees.

Designed for War: The graphic power of Second World War posters

Saturday 3 May – Wednesday 23 July 2025

Marking the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, this exhibition explores the power of design in shaping public perception and fueling the war effort. Highlighting a wide selection of posters donated to Craven Museum by W.W Holgate which were collected during the war itself alongside objects from the museum’s collection, it connects national narratives to the local histories of Craven and beyond.
