Exploring Artists’ Books with Barbara Greene
Book Making Workshop
This workshop aims to offer an overview of a range of methods of making books suitable for a variety of purposes: for example for artists’ sketch books, resolved art pieces, a way of presenting photographic, collage paint or print works. The workshop is aimed at beginners to this subject.
Using white paper the group will make small versions of several methods of book making which will act as a reminder of the method for future work. There will be discussion on how to alter or add interest to or generally change the original proportions of the models for individual projects.
There will be regular books to consult and examples of a variety of artist’s books to examine. There will also be an opportunity to look more closely at some of the books in Barbara Greene’s exhibition Echoes: Material Memories of Inhabited Space which is showing in the gallery until 30 October 2021.
Important Information:
Tea and coffee are included but you will need to provide your own lunch.
This workshop is offered for free due to generous funding from NLHF. Booking is essential and we ask that participants let us know as soon as possible if they are unable to attend so that their place can be offered to someone else on the waiting list.
